FWIW, here's what I find.

With GAP4, Version: 4.4.5 of 13-May-05, powerpc-apple-darwin7.9.0-gcc
(667MHz G4 laptop), I have no problem with this sequence (it completes,
with no error).

With GAP4, Version: 4.4.5 of 13-May-05, powerpc-apple-darwin8.1.0-gcc
(2x2.7GHz G5 tower), the following happens:
   - run with the shell file gap.sh, I get the buss error.
   - run without any args, as bin/powerpc-apple-darwin8.1.0-gcc/gap,
without the args as
used in the shell file, I do *not* get the buss error, and
completes as on the G4.

Odd. The core file generated by the crash is not very informative (no
symbols).

Regards,

Justin
