On input, "(1)(2)..." is invalid.  The parser expects a '*' to be used; 
juxtaposition does not mean "group operation".

In addition, it appears that the GAP engine would prefer that you not 
mention "1"-cycles (your example with inserted '*'s causes more serious 
complaints).
